Job Title: Lead Laser Operator

Location: Santa Ana, CA

Payrate: $25/hr

Hours: M-F, 1:30 PM-10:00 PM

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary: The Lead Laser Operator is responsible for reading blueprints, drawings, and taking precise measurements to plan and execute laser cutting procedures. Successful candidates will possess strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to operate and troubleshoot machinery to meet quality and production standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and program Amada and Bystronic fiber laser machines as needed.
  • Lead and manage a team of laser operators, delegating tasks and ensuring workflow efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and address machine malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Work from work orders, samples, blueprints, and written/verbal instructions to complete jobs.
  • Monitor product quality throughout the production process to ensure consistent adherence to standards.
  • Load automatic feeders and manage material handling.
  • Identify parts for inspection as part of the quality control process.
  • Update job travelers and input relevant data as required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in line with company safety standards.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and push up to 40 lbs when necessary.
  • Ability to carry up to 25 lbs for distances of up to 5 feet.
  • Ability to lift materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Spend approximately 10% of time walking, 70% standing, and 20% kneeling, squatting, or bending as needed.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in a laser or related manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and data entry.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to assess and ensure high-quality workmanship in laser cutting operations.
  • Conflict resolution skills and the ability to address team issues effectively.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, dial indicators, depth gauges).
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to explain complex processes and troubleshoot issues with the team.
  • Willingness to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive motions, and lift up to 40 lbs as needed.
  • Proven track record of dependable attendance, with the flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required.
  • Previous experience in a high- or low-volume production environment is a plus.
